“This track was the first track I ever made for Shinesparkers. It was quite a departure from what I had previously shown Darren and what got me “the gig”. The demo I had sent over was more of a cinematic synth track in the vein of older Metroid soundtracks (obviously not as good, though). My direction for this track was to stay closer to what I personally felt comfortable with – acoustic guitar… and some stuff around it. There’s a, kinda, fun story about the track and how Kristin Björkebäck ended up as a part of the track. At the time I was studying to become a music teacher in Umeå. Between lectures I sat down and practiced the melodies of Kraid’s Lair when Kristin, my then classmate, came over and said she recognized the track from a game she played when she was younger. I was super excited since I personally had just recently started playing Metroid. We talked and eventually decided she’d play the accordion on the track. It turned out really well in my opinion and is probably the most memorable part of the track. Some of the stuff in the track isn’t up to par with what I do these days, but I still look back fondly on this track! I actually think it holds up better than some of the stuff I made for later albums.”
